The Tuscaloosa Character Council
The Tuscaloosa Character Council is a 501c(3) non-profit organization composed of a group of volunteers from the community who believe in the value of good character and the role it plays in building successful relationships across all sectors of the community. The Council's common goal is to create "a great community in which to live, a community of excellence, and a community of character."
Mission
The Tuscaloosa Character Council's mission describes how a "culture of character" is built - the purpose is to strengthen our citizens, their families, and the community by promoting excellence in character, and thereby, to become known as a "Community of Character".
Goals & Objectives:
- To develop character in individual citizens for successful lives.
- To strengthen marriages and families which includes deepening relationships between parents and children.
- To reduce crime and poverty.
- To achieve excellence in education, leadership, families, housing, neighborhoods, law enforcement, services, care of the poor, health care, and race relations.
Council members mobilize volunteers in the community to assist them in achieving the above-mentioned goals. Coordination of character development activities/programs is under the leadership of appointed chairpersons and is divided into the following domains: education, government business, faith-based, media, and our newest domain, family.
